Carmelo Anthony Reveals Retirement Calls from China and the Pelicans

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony has been enjoying retirement since hanging up his jersey in May, but it appears that his scoring prowess may still be coveted by some teams. In a recent podcast appearance, Anthony revealed that he has received calls from teams interested in his services, including one from an unlikely source.

"China," Anthony said with a chuckle on his 7PM In Brooklyn podcast, hosted by Wave Sports + Entertainment. "The Pelicans called... That would have been that jersey: Hide that, hide that."

Anthony's comments suggest that he is still open to returning to the NBA, despite his retirement announcement. His passion for the game remains strong, as he asserted during the podcast:

"You could put me anywhere on God's green Earth, and we're going to play," Anthony declared. "I'll play one on one with anybody."

While Anthony's age and recent retirement may raise questions about his fit on a modern NBA roster, his scoring ability is undeniable. He ranks 10th all-time in NBA scoring, averaging 22.4 points per game over his 19-year career.

Anthony's experience and leadership could also be valuable assets to a young Pelicans team that is looking to take a step forward in the Western Conference. However, it remains to be seen if Anthony is willing to come out of retirement and if any team is willing to take a chance on him. Only time will tell if Anthony will make a comeback, but his comments suggest that the itch to compete may still be burning.
