The 2023-24 Section 9 girls basketball season is underway, with 41 teams competing in six divisions of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association and four divisions in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League. Additionally, there will be a large-school Class AAA for the first time this season.

Teams to watch include the defending sectional class champions Monroe-Woodbury (Class AA), Wallkill (A), Red Hook (B), Millbrook (C ), and Webutuck (D). Millbrook is the reigning state champion, having defeated Randolph 59-45 in the finals last season.

Thirty-seven coaches have submitted names of their top players for the season ahead. These players are not all-stars, but they are expected to be significant contributors to their teams.
